Amersfoort Centraal enineering work from 6 July to 18 August

Allow for extra travel time if you are travelling to, from or via Amersfoort Centraal

Work will be carried out on Amersfoort Centraal during the summer holidays (from 6 July to 18 August). As a result, fewer and sometimes no trains will be running. Buses are used when trains are not running. We list all the information for you.

It is the first time since the existence of Amsterdam Centraal that the trainstation will be shut

What?

Work at Amersfoort station will start on Saturday 6 July and end on Sunday 18 August. As a result, fewer trains will travel to, from and through Amersfoort Centraal. Some weeks, there will be no trains running to, from and through Amersfoort Central. You can see below which weeks these are.

Note: from 13 to 28 July, and from 15 to 18 August, there will be no trains at all to, from and through Amersfoort Centraal.

When?

Baarn & Amersfoort Centraal: Saturday 6 July to Friday 12 July

  • An NS bus will run between Amersfoort Centraal and Baarn.
  • Need to go to Amsterdam? Then travel via Utrecht Centraal.
  • Longer trains will be used between Amersfoort - Utrecht, Utrecht - Schiphol and Utrecht - Amersterdam whenever possible.

No train traffic from, through and to Amersfoort Centraal at all: Saturday 13 July to Sunday 28 July

  • Buses will be operated by NS from Amersfoort Centraal.

Amersfoort Centraal – Den Dolder: Monday 29 July to Wednesday 14 August

  • An NS bus will run between Amersfoort Centraal and Den Dolder. Need to go to Utrecht? Then travel via Hilversum.

Amersfoort Centraal – Ede-Wageningen: Monday 29 July to Wednesday 14 August

  • A stop bus will be deployed by RRReis.

No train traffic from, through and to Amersfoort Centraal at all: Thursday 15 August to Sunday 18 August

  • Buses will be operated by NS from Amersfoort Centraal.

Why?

At Amersfoort Centraal, ProRail will start renewing all switches and signals and renewing train safety. This mean kilometres of cables and pipes will need to be renewed. ProRail hopes to have fewer issues at Amersfoort Central after the summer.

Replacement transport: buses

Train operators travelling to, from or via Amersfoort Central will deploy buses on these routes. So travellers can still get to their destinations.

Useful tips for travelling via Amsterdam Centraal:

  1. Plan your journey shortly before you leave.
  2. Double check which platform your train is departing from.
  3. Always fill in your start and end destination as accurately as possible. This helps the planner offer alternative routes.
  4. Make use of shared transport, such as shared bikes or scooters.
