We remember the Dutch victims of wartime violence on 4 May, and on 5 May we celebrate our freedom.
If you are travelling with public transport on 4 May at 20:00, then you will be standing still for 2 minutes due to remembrance day. The driver of your bus, train, tram, metro or ferry will stop their vehicle when and where it is safe to do so. If you are at a station then you will be asked for 2 minutes of silence.
On 5 May we celebrate the fact that we live in freedom. The National Committee helps determine how meaning is given to commemorating and celebrating and to how the memory of the Second World War is kept alive.
