New Timetable Arriva in Groningen

The last few months, a lot of construction work was done in Groningen station. The station will open again on Sunday 13 July. From then on, Arriva will operate a new timetable in the province of Groningen.

Previously, Arriva trains coming from the south and terminating in Groningen could not continue beyond the station. But now, thanks to extended tracks, these trains can operate further past Groningen.

New arriva timetable

Eemshaven – Groningen – Bad Nieuweschans

Two separate local train services — from Groningen station to Eemshaven station and from Groningen station to Bad Nieuweschans station — will now be combined into one.

  • Operates from 05:47 to 19:47, Monday to Saturday

  • On Sundays, trains will still terminate in Groningen station

Delfzijl – Groningen – Veendam

The two separate local services from Delfzijl station to Groningen station and Veendam station to Groningen station are also being merged.

  • The schedule between Groningen station and Delfzijl station will shift by approximately 15 minutes

  • On Sundays, trains will still terminate in Groningen

Groningen/Winschoten – Leeuwarden

The express train between Winschoten station and Groningen station will now continue as a local train to Leeuwarden station during peak hours, with additional stops.

Monday to Saturday:

  • Train stops twice per hour at Feanwâlden station

  • Train stops once per hour at Buitenpost station, and once per hour at Zuidhorn station

Sunday:

  • The express train operates once per hour, stopping at Feanwâlden station and Buitenpost station

  • The local train from Leeuwarden station will terminate at Groningen Europapark station

  • The express train from Leeuwarden station will terminate at Groningen station
