Strikes in regional public transport on 14 October
On Wednesday 14 October, regional bus drivers will be on strike.
Due to the strike, no buses will run in almost all of the Netherlands. Buses will still run in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague.
Who is taking part in the strike?
The striking employees work for major transport operators in the Netherlands: Arriva, EBS, Qbuzz, Keolis, Transdev (with brands such as Connexxion and Hermes), and RET Streekvervoer. City transport services in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague will continue to run because employees of the transport operators there are covered by a different collective labour agreement.
Why are they striking?
Trade unions CNV and FNV are calling on regional public transport employees to take part in a nationwide strike. They are protesting against employers' plans to put even more pressure on staff schedules.
If the strike on 14 October does not have the desired effect, further action will follow in the weeks afterwards. Through this action, CNV and FNV hope to secure a better collective labour agreement for employees.
