Single tickets

Do you travel without a public transport chipcard (OV-chipkaart) and prefer not to check in with your debit card? Then you can buy a single ticket.

A single ticket for the train, bus, metro, or tram

You do not see many single tickets anymore, but they still exist. You can buy them at a ticket machine on the platform of the train, tram, or metro. Need a bus ticket? It is usually possible to buy a ticket from the bus driver.

A single ticket is often more expensive compared to when you pay for the same journey with OV-chipkaart or OVpay.

Please note – Some operators have completely transitioned to contactless payment methods. Therefore, you can no longer pay in cash at most ticket machines and on most buses. So, make sure you have a bank card with you if you want to buy a single ticket.
