Travelling with your contactless debit card
With OVpay, you can check in and out in public transport using your contactless debit card, credit card, mobile phone, or smartwatch.
What is OVpay?
OVpay is the new way of paying for public transport. With OVpay, you check in and out contactlessly. Instead of using an OV-chipkaart , you check in and out with your debit card, credit card, or mobile phone—or with your OV-pas .

How travelling with your debit or credit card works
Check in using your contactless debit card, credit card, or the payment card on your mobile phone.
When you get off, check out using the same card you checked in with.
The cost of your journey is automatically charged to your bank account.

Tip –Take your debit card, credit card, or OV-pas out of your wallet when checking in and out. Or remove it from your phone case. This ensures you check in with the correct card and prevents accidentally using two cards at the same time. Did this happen anyway? Visit the OVpay website to find out how to request a refund.
Things to keep in mind when travelling with your debit card
Checking in and out for one person – You can only check in and out for yourself. It is not possible to travel with multiple people using one card.
Use the same card for check-in and check-out – Always check out using the same card or phone you used to check in.
Discounts and season tickets – Check the transport provider’s website to see whether your season ticket or discount product can also be used with a debit card.
OVpay account – Would you like to set up age-based discounts, travel first class, or view your journey history? You can find all this information and more in your OVpay account.
