Discount on NS train tickets in the Netherlands

When is the discount valid?

This promotion runs from 14 February to 1 March 2026. And is only valid on 9292 e-tickets for travel with NS.

Travelling on a weekday (Monday to Friday)? You will receive a discount of up to 7%* during off-peak hours.**
Travelling on a weekend day (Friday 6:30 PM to Sunday)? You will receive a discount of up to 12%*. On Saturday and Sunday, the discount is valid all day.

*Excluding service fee.

**Off-peak hours are on weekdays before 6:30 AM, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and after 6:30 PM.

How do I buy a discounted e-ticket?

This promotion applies on 9292 e-tickets for travel with NS purchased in the 9292 app. Here’s how it works:

Have you paid? You'll find your e-ticket(s) under 'My e-tickets' in the menu at the top left of your screen.

On sale exclusively in the 9292 app.
The tickets can only be used on the phone on which they were purchased. They cannot be forwarded to another person.
There is no discount on routes with the train operators Arriva, Valleilijn, Breng, and Qbuzz. On these services, you pay the normal price.
If you need to switch to carriers other than NS during your journey, the discount is only calculated for the part you travel with NS. You are required to pay the full fare for travel with the other carriers.
Please note - if any other carriers besides NS operate on the route your journey crosses (e.g. Arriva, Blauwnet or Eurostar), then please bear this in mind when figuring out the travel advice. The discount only applies on NS trains.
The discount will be deducted from the normal 9292 ticket prices shown in the app for the scheduled journey with NS.
The discount is not applied to the service fee that 9292 charges by default.
E-tickets are not valid on Eurostar, Thalys and Nightjet trains.
The 9292 e-tickets with discounted NS travel do not require an OV-chipkaart or subscription.
