Tips for travelling during disruptions

Unfortunately, it happens sometimes: construction work, delays, public transport strikes, or weather conditions that cause public transport to be disrupted. Do you still need to travel somewhere by public transport? Read our tips!

Tip 1: Do part of your journey in a different way

Is the bus or tram cancelled? See if you can do a part of your journey in a different way. For example, by walking or cycling a bit further to another stop. In the 9292 planner, you can set up how you want to start or end your journey, for example, by foot or by bike.

Tip – Instead of stops or stations, it is best to fill in the addresses of your starting and ending points. This way, the planner can go through all the possibilities properly. It is possible that the buses at stops a little further away are still running normally.

Tip 2: Be aware of longer travel times

In the event of a disruption, you may have to change trains more often, or trips may be cancelled. Sometimes, operators will provide replacement transport or take an alternative route. Therefore, always take into account the possibility of a longer travel time in the event of a disruption.

Tip 3: Plan your journey shortly before leaving

The 9292 planner is most up-to-date in the time shortly before your departure. Delays and cancelled journeys are sometimes reported to us at the last minute. Therefore, always check your journey again just before departure.

Tip 4: Help fellow travellers

Are you already aware of the disruption, because you saw it on our social media or in our app? Do you see that a fellow traveler is not aware of it? Then help them by making them aware of the disruption.

Tip 5: Keep an eye on the 9292 app for the latest (alternative) travel advice

The 9292 travel planner contains all current timetables of all public transport companies in the Netherlands. Via a smart system, public transport companies can immediately pass on their changes to us. As a traveller, you do not have to switch between different apps, because we provide adapted travel advice if there are problems.
