Public transport operators announce temporary strike on 2 April
Public transport in and around Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Den Haag (The Hague) will stand still for 110 seconds at 2:00 PM. This includes buses, trams, and metro's from public transport operators GVB, HTM, RET, Connexxion, and EBS.
If you are traveling by bus, tram, or metro during the strike, the vehicle will stand still for 110 seconds. The driver will put the vehicle to a stop at a safe place.
Why is this temporary strike happening?
On 2 April at 2:00 PM, the Dutch House of Representatives will debate budget cuts to public transport. The government plans to cut a total of 110 million euros from public transport funding.
Transport operators and their commissioners, the Vervoerregio Amsterdam (VRA) and Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH), are urging the government to reconsider these cuts. According to the VRA and MRDH, the proposed measures will inevitably lead to reductions in the time tables and higher travel fares.
