No NS trains on Friday 6 June due to FNV strike

The first of the planned strikes is on Friday 6 June, in the Central region of the Netherlands. According to NS, travellers should take into account that this strike could result in no NS trains operating throughout all of the Netherlands.

Friday 6 June: No NS trains in the Central region

FNV has announced a strike in the Central region of the Netherlands. It concerns a 24-hour strike from Friday morning 4:00 am to Saturday morning 4:00 am. NS will not provide replacement transport.

Consequences for the rest of the country

A large proportion of NS trains run through the province of Utrecht. National NS train traffic is also controlled from Utrecht. That is why a strike in the Central region of the Netherlands has a national impact. It is currently unclear where exactly the strike will impact train traffic. Therefore, plan your journey shortly before departure via 9292.nl or in the 9292 app.

Why are there strikes?

Trade unions FNV and VVMC are demanding a salary increase for NS employees. NS offered a salary increase of 2.55 percent on an annual basis. The unions want inflation to be compensated for and according to them, this is not happening with the NS proposal. The unions also demand better conditions for people who do heavy and irregular work.

The unions had given NS an ultimatum after the stalled negotiations on the collective labor agreement. The FNV ultimatum expired on Tuesday 3 June at 5:00 PM. The VVMC ultimatum expired on Monday 2 June.
