New in app: crowd expectation alert
Travelling to the beach in Scheveningen during good weather? Then you might see an alert in your travel advice: the 9292 crowd expectation alert.
What is the crowd expectation alert?
When large crowds are expected — for example due to an event or sunny weather — public transport can get busy. That’s why 9292 has introduced the crowd expectation alert in collaboration with public transport operator HTM and the municipality of The Hague (Gemeente Den Haag).
With the crowd expectation alert, you will receive an in-app notification if you are travelling to or from a location where large crowds are expected.
How does the crowd expectation alert work?
Currently, the crowd expectation alert is active for HTM tram lines 1 and 9 to and from Scheveningen.
If you plan a journey to Scheveningen and the predicted crowd levels exceed a certain threshold, you'll see an alert in your travel advice. The image below shows what this message looks like in the 9292 app.

From the alert, you can click through to an information page. This page shows you the expected crowd level during the hours surrounding your planned journey. It also shows you advice on alternative routes or alternative travel times. In the image above you can see what the information page looks like.
