How much travelling one kilometre costs (the rate per kilometre) depends on the region. On OV-bedrijven's website you will find more information on the rate per kilometre in the region.

Local transport; travel for less

For the following groups of travellers in the local transport a 34% discount applies: 4-11 years old, 65+, holders of a student travel product.

Boarding rate

If you travel on account, when you check- in a boarding rate is deducted. When you check- out this amount will be added again, minus the amount for the number of kilometres travelled.

Fixed rate

When you travel using the OV-chipkaart e-purse, you pay a fixed rate in addition to the rate per kilometer. This fixed rate is only applicable for bus, tram, metro transport. If you transfer within 35 minutes after checking out, you do not have to pay the fixed rate again.
