OV- chipkaart

The OV-chipkaart is the means of payment for bus, tram, metro transport. From 3rd November 2011, everywhere in the Netherlands, you can only travel by bus, tram and metro with an OV-chipkaart. The strippenkaart is therefore no longer valid as a single ticket.

That does not apply to e.g. ferry services or community buses where fixed rates are being used.

You can upload your card with a balance in euros, which you can use everywhere. Or you can upload a travel product, like a one-way ticket or season ticket. The OV-chipkaart contains a chip and can be recognized by the pink logo.

The Interliner – Qliner – Hanzeliner

These are examples of high-quality public transport (HOV),  travelling by bus with lots of extras, modern conveniences and extra service. You can use your OV-chipkaart on these journeys. For more options such as rates, check the transport company’s website.
